WNY Homeland Security Information Centers

The Western New York Library Resources Council, in collaboration with the Central Library of the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library, the James Prendergast Library of the Chautauqua Cattaraugus Public Library System and the Niagara Falls Public Library of the Nioga Library System, has established three free and publicly accessible Western New York Homeland Security Information Centers with the goal of providing the public with reliable and accurate information on issues related to terrorism, national security, and civil defense.

The ultimate goal for implementing the three WNY Homeland Security Information Centers is to raise public awareness of the importance of libraries as service providers of comprehensive and legitimate sources of information for needs to counter the physical and psychological threats of terrorism.
