Patrons who have cared about the library and benefited from its services during their lifetimes are encouraged to think about making a lasting and significant gift to the library's endowment fund. Its principal benefits the library in perpetuity, while interest from it helps to pay for library expenses from year to year.
It is possible
to add to the endowment fund through gifts of cash, securities, real estate
or jewelry or through options such as charitable remainder trusts, gifts
subject to life estate, pooled income trusts, life insurance, and bequests.
Planned giving is an excellent way for individuals to save on current income
taxes or estate taxes and probate costs while protecting the value of their
estate for their heirs and helping the library to plan for its future.
Planned giving opportunities are a means by which people can assure that
assets accumulated through their hard work are used in a manner in which
they approve.
Potential donors
or their legal of financial representatives are invited to consult with
Library Director Catherine A. Way by writing to her at the Prendergast Library,
509 Cherry Street, Jamestown, NY 14701 or calling her at 484-7135, ext. 223 to consider these possibilities for planned giving.
