Library Thankful to Be Part of YMCA’s Meals for Kids Program!

The library partnered with the YMCA of Jamestown, NY, to offer Grab-N-Go lunch and breakfast for area families. Summer meals began on Monday, June 29th, at five Jamestown locations and ran through August 28th! Meals where for families to take home to children 18 and under, and included lunch and breakfast(for the following day). The total meals served at the library; 14,196!

On Fridays, the library provided free books to all kids who receive a meal. The “Free Books for Kids” program included all the sites that the YMCA served; those sites included the Prendergast Library, The Boys & Girls Club, Persell and Jefferson Middle Schools, and C.C. Ring Elementary School. The “Free Books for Kids” program was made possible by a grant from Cummins, Inc. The library distributed 2484 books to children.
