The Prendergast Library website is a pilot location for after-school homework help by local tutors now available online through a partnership between the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Library System and Chautauqua Striders.

Help is available through chat and whiteboard software. Click here for more information and directions.

Brelynn Abers, an elementary and middle school tutor for Chautauqua Striders, and a second-grader enjoy one of the books Chautauqua Striders recently received from Prendergast Library as Katelyn Cornell, a social work intern from the library, looks on. Approximately 200 books obtained through the generosity of a book drive by local Time Warner Cable employees and the library’s Family Literacy Fund established by Dan and Linda Fellows are used by students for daily reading sessions at the Striders’ on-site tutoring location at 301 E. Second St., Jamestown. Tutors trained by Chautauqua Striders are also providing the math assistance online for Homework Help. Public libraries in Brocton, Dunkirk, Fredonia, Jamestown and Westfield are participating in this pilot project.
