Welcome to our Children's Summer Reading Celebration!

How to Participate
Prizes include “most minutes read,” as well as halfway and finale drawings.
*Plus, a treasure chest of prizes all summer long*
Reading & Activity Logs
- Pick up your Summer Reading & Activity Log at the library’s Children’s Desk (starting June 28) or sign up with READsquared.
- Use your Reading & Activity Log or READsquared to record the minutes you read and activities completed.
- Bring your partially or fully completed Reading & Activity Log to the library to earn beads, prizes, and entries into prize drawings!
- The last day to submit logs will be August 23.
Read for Beads
- Pick up a necklace and brag tag when you start Summer Reading and fill it with beads throughout the summer!
- 1 bead = 1 hour read (4 crayons) or 1 activity (1 easel)

Community Block Party & Summer Reading Kickoff

Join us to celebrate the start of Summer Reading at our annual Block Party! Enjoy food, games, crafting, music, and more.
Community Days

Open Play and Staff-Led Activities in the Makerspace
Open Play: Mon 10:30am-1:30pm, Tues 3:00-5:00pm, Thurs 3:00-5:00pm, Sat 10:30am-3:00pm
Staff-Led Activities: Mon, Wed, and Fri from 3:30-5:00pm
Join us as we learn through play! The library’s Makerspace has activities for all ages, from infants to teenagers. Check out our programming calendar for details about staff-led programs, or drop in for open play and explore the space on your own.
All Ages Drumming with Infinity
Thursdays, July 10 – August 21: 11:00am-12:00pm
Join us on the library’s front lawn for a drum circle. Drums and other percussion instruments will be provided. You are welcome to bring your drum. No experience is needed.
Outdoor Games
Wednesdays 3:00-6:00pm
Stop by the library’s front lawn for an evening of outdoor games including cornhole, horseshoes, mini basketball, and more!
Make a Compass Bracelet
Wednesday, July 10: 1:00-2:00pm
Make a paracord bracelet with a compass attached at this program for ages 8-14. Registration is required for this free program. To register, call (716) 484-7135 Ext. 234.
Doodle Bot Program
Monday, July 22: 5:00-6:30pm
Build a drawing robot to take home at this program for ages 6-12. Registration is required for this free program. To register, call (716) 484-7135 Ext. 234.
Book Swap
Friday, July 26: 9:00am-7:00pm
Celebrate the halfway point of Summer Reading with a Book Swap! Bring in a book you no longer want, and trade it for something new. Categories for kids, teens, and adults will be available. Contributed books must be in good condition.
Oak Birthday Party
Thursday, August 1: 4:30-6:30pm
Come celebrate the birthday of the library’s historic oak tree! This program will feature a lawn party for kids, followed by a talk about Jamestown’s trees for adults.
Pokémon Program
Saturday, August 17: 10:30-11:30am (ages 6-9), 1:30-2:30pm (ages 10-14)
Trade Pokémon cards, make themed crafts, an enjoy some snacks with fellow trainers! Registration is appreciated. To register, call (716) 484-7135 Ext. 234.
End of Summer Party
Saturday, August 30: 11:00am-12:00pm
Celebrate the end of Summer Reading with a cupcake party. There will be games, activities and prizes!
