Bengala Dyeing Class

Join us for a special Bengala mud dyeing class on Saturday, October 8th, 2022, from 1:30 pm until 3:30 pm. Bengala is a sustainable and natural method for textile dyeing. The rich colors are environmentally safe and beautiful.

Each participant will get to make and take home their finished Bengala mud dyed bandana and quilt square.

Registration is required for this FREE class. Sign up at the library’s information desk or by calling 716-484-7135, ext. 226.

More info: Bengala dyes are created from naturally occurring minerals and do not require any heat or chemicals to set the dye.  This easy, tactile, dyeing process will give you a chance to literally squeeze or knead the dye into the fabric stopping when you are happy with how saturated the color has become.  We will be dyeing cotton bandanas for a fun and easy result.  If you enjoy quilting, small squares of quilting cotton will also be available to dye.  Please wear clothing that you do not mind getting dirty just in case there is some splashing.

The event is finished.
